Little Birdie Books
This month’s Spotlight is on Little Birdie Books, a new independent Usborne book shop bringing children’s stories and learning to life at Much Hadham Village Hall.
We spoke to owner Angela Byrne about who her pop‑up is for, what visitors can expect when they come along, and how her book recommendations, new releases, gift ideas and special offers are helping to make learning exciting for local families.
In a couple of sentences, what is your club/society all about?
I own an Independent Usborne Book Partner book shop, and I’m passionate about helping children discover the joy of reading. Usborne books are beautifully illustrated, engaging, and designed to make learning fun for children of all ages.
Who is your group for?
Parents, grandparents and teachers. Our books are aimed at 0-18 years. We welcome children to come and explore the books.
When and where do you usually meet at Much Hadham Village Hall?
I will be there on these dates and times (more to come):
20th May 10 am-1 pm
3rd June 10 am-1 pm
17th June 10 am-1 pm
1st July 10 am-1 pm
29th July 10am-1pm

How long has your club/society been running, and how long have you been at the Village Hall?
I have only had my book shop for a couple of months, and I'm new to the village hall. I'm hoping that it will become a permanent thing.
What can someone expect if they come along for the first time?
Alongside my pop-up book shop, I will offer complimentary tea, coffee and squash, plus homemade cakes and biscuits
Do people need to book in advance, or can they just turn up?
No booking necessary. All welcome for a chat, a beverage, and to find a good book.
Is there a membership fee or session cost?
No, attendance is free.
How can people get in touch with you or find out more?
I can be contacted via my Facebook page
Or via this Website link to my online book shop
